DESIGN

Rêve introduces new Mixed-Use Development.

Rêve Development is excited to announce its collaboration with Encore Architects on a Multi-family development near the Mt Baker Light Rail Station. This project offers a unique mix of rental units (including co-living) and a retail base. It’s located at the major intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Way and Rainier Ave (in the heart of Seattle’s Accessible Mt. Baker initiative), neighboring Franklin High School and adjacent to the newly built Mercy Housing - Gardner House and Allen Family Center.

BUILD

SZ Build Sites: Health & Safety First.

SZ Build strives for excellence in safety. We take pride in our ability to quickly adapt to the new COVID-19 protocols. In doing so, we mobilize each project with a Toolbox Talk led by our SZ Build Safety Supervisor. You may notice a team member singing happy birthday to themselves as they scrub with antibacterial soap in accordance with the CDC’s detailed recommendations. We continue to maintain our 6+ feet of distance in all possible scenarios. We have taken precautions to ensure our team is equipped with the appropriate mask for the task. Because of these new policies, what you may notice most is our excitement to be reunited as a strong build team, working towards our client’s vision.

ART

SKIN - The Exhibition.

Join us this First Friday, July 3rd, Noon - 3PM for an Outdoor Art Walk!

SZ Gallery features a display of talented photographers selected during PICHA’s annual call to artists. This year’s topical theme is SKIN. $100 from each sale of the SKIN collection will be donated to BLACK ARTISTS + DESIGN GUILD.

‘Apart from the roles we play in our communities and the traditions we've inherited from the past, what does it mean to be African today? Who are we once we are stripped of the expectations, the prejudices, and the assumptions? What makes us African?’

SZ Gallery has aired (IGTV + FB) an exclusive interview with PICHA Founder, Josiane Faubert. The beauty of this Virtual Art Opening is that you can watch it anytime, enjoy!

COMMUNITY

We asked and you answered - Thank You.

This has been a challenging time for us all. The WeLoveMI campaign launched on April 15th, its aim to support local businesses and organizations. To date, it has raised $122,306.00 in generous contributions from our Mercer Island community. Fantastic!

Wishing everyone a safe, healthy & prosperous re-opening!

Black Artists, Thinkers & Change-makers.

In this time of crisis, we want to direct your attention to charities that are doing great work supporting black artists, thinkers, and change-makers. Please take a moment to learn about the following organizations:

LANGSTON is a non-profit arts organization, established in 2016 to lead programming within the historic Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute. LANGSTON guides generative programs and community partnerships that center Black art, artists and audiences and honor the ongoing legacy of Seattle’s Black Central Area. We support a variety of enriching programs, across multiple disciplines, rooted in our mission and values.

BLACK ARTISTS + DESIGN GUILD is building a more equitable and inclusive creative culture by advancing a community of independent Black artists, makers and designers in creative industries. We are committed to honoring our ancestral legacy in design, by taking ownership of our narrative, and by creating spaces to celebrate Black excellence and culture in design.

BLACK ARTS FUTURES FUND aims to:
1. Grow emerging philanthropists by providing a structured community to understand the importance of generous contributions to community-centered artists and arts & culture organizations
2. Provide impactful general operating grants to those organizations in an effort to stabilize, validate, introduce to future philanthropists, and support the future of their work.
