Art & Wine - First Friday, September 6th, 5:00 - 8:00PM

Please join us at SZ Gallery on Friday, September 6th for our First Friday Art & Wine Reception from 5 - 8 pm. Enjoy the serene paintings created by our August/September featured artist along with complimentary refreshments and seasonal bites.

What Dreams May Come… Several years ago, while on a boat with my husband, a purple satin party dress fell in the ocean. The accidental image created exquisite shape, texture and movement of light on water and fabric. This inspired my latest series of paintings. The dress revealed itself as a metaphor. A dreamlike narrative, more poetry than prose transpired. The worn and well-traveled dress, mysterious and fragile is renewed by light and water.

Juliana Kang Robinson's show "Migrations" opens on September 1st at SZ Gallery during the First Friday Art Walk. Stop by for a night of art, wine, and delicious bites catered by Caruccio's! Juliana's art will be available for purchase

Mercer Sources and Clarke + Clarke Art + Artifacts will also be participating.

In an interview with Juliana, she shared why she named her exhibit "Migrations": “The burrowing beneath the sand or soil by subterranean critters, the arc of flight by a swarm of birds, the fluid undulations of a school of fish are all the movements that inform my work. Tides of marks and sweeping cuts in the surface of the paintings make visible and track the movements that take place all around us.” Using nature as her muse, the layers within her work are meant to mimic the beauty found in natural movements over time. Read more about Juliana's work on our featured artist post.

Art & Wine [State Sen. Lisa Wellman]

On August 4th, stop by the First Friday Art Walk at SZ Gallery to see State Senator Lisa Wellman’s photography exhibit, DETRITUS, sip some wine, and eat delicious bites catered by Caruccio's.

Mercer Sources and Clarke + Clarke Art + Artifacts will be also be participating.

Lisa’s photography is both stark, striking, and visually captivating – she finds ways to see the beauty in everyday objects and places, focusing on the idea of uncovering what’s hidden in plain sight. DETRITUS is a show that focuses on the concept of disintegration, decay, and destruction, the natural path that all creation takes. In an interview with Lisa, she described her inspiration behind this theme: “But somewhere along that path we stop ‘seeing.’ Whether it’s people, nature itself, or what remains of our interaction with our environment, I find beauty in what is often overlooked.”
