LUCIA NEAGU.

A native of Romania, Ms. Neagu earned a graduate degree in ceramic art from the Central Institute of Applied Art in Beijing-China. During this time, Neagu fell in love with ceramics. It was her passion for ceramics that brought her to teach ceramic technology in the Ceramic Department of the Art Academy in Bucharest and write her book: Ceramics – Craft Art and Sciences.

In 2006, Neagu moved to Seattle to be close to her children. It was in Seattle that she felt the need to liberate her creative potential and embark on an experimental journey of painting. She bought herself paper, canvas, watercolor, acrylic and started again on her artistic path. She discovered the beautiful colors of today, the variety of materials available, and the magical thrill which connects in one expression the mind, the soul, the hand, and the palette.

This creative discovery became addictive with a great reward: the art she has created in this gallery. Neagu states “I am trying to apply all I have learned through my intellectual, aesthetic, and spiritual growth and use my intuition as a mature expression of what I am today.”

Lucia Neagu describes her art as overwhelming, because of her lack of time. Objects no longer interest her. Her life space has moved from the environment to the limited space of her canvas. It is hard to predict what next year will bring, but what she surely knows is that she will continue to paint, discover, and learn.
