PICHA - Women Shaping Creative Spaces

March 5, 2026

SZ Gallery has had the distinct pleasure of collaborating with Josiane Faubert, Artist and Photographer, born in Gabon. She is also the Founder of PICHA, a stock photo agency that brings curated, diverse visuals to brands and business looking to tell richer stories, inclusive of Afrocentric communities. Together, soulful exhibitions ranged from showcasing talented photographers selected during PICHA’s annual call to artists, Afrofuturism and SKIN, to a presentation of Weaving Stories, a visual storytelling book that celebrates the beauty, reslience and vibrancy of Afrocentric communities across the globe.

For International Women’s Day on Sunday, March 8, PICHA is preparing a special series highlighting women shaping creative spaces. It’s their way of not only celebrating creative talent, but also leadership, influence and impact. Suzanne Zahr has been invited to participate. She was asked these very thought-provoking questions below. How would you respond?

  1. Who are five women who have shaped the way you see, build, or create?

  2. How does your identity as a woman influence the way you work?

  3. What is one structural change you would love to see in your industry that would meaningfully shift access or equity for women — especially women of color and intersectional voices?

  4. What do you believe is your creative superpower?

  5. What would you tell your younger self — or a young woman entering your field today?

PERSIAN GARDEN by Monir & Mehdi Ghanbeigy.

November 17, 2025

SZ Gallery’s 5th Persian Garden, opening [First] Friday, December 5, 2025, is an exhibit that tells culturally rich stories of Persian culture through contemporary and classically-influenced pieces. Monir & Mehdi Ghanbeigy from Iran have created multimedia artwork together since 1970, combining Mehdi’s detailed work with Persian miniatures and painting, Monir’s background in ceramics, and their mutual love for the history of Persian art.

Monir and Mehdi began working together in Iran before they moved to England for further training at London and Canterbury College of Art. After returning to Iran in 1980, they developed a novel style in ceramics and painting, influenced by both modern art as well as the very rich traditions of Persian pottery and storybook miniatures. They have shown their art at numerous national and international exhibitions, including the 2012 Venice Biennial, and have taught for many years at several universities in Iran and in their private workshop. Their pieces are permanently on exhibit at the Contemporary Art Museum in Iran, as well as several museums around the world.

Together by Juliana Kang Robinson

May 17, 2023

The SZ Gallery has the distinct privilege of exhibiting one of Juliana Kang Robinson’s more recent works of art, Together. This stunning 48”x76”x2” painting is made with Acrylic on Birch and draws you in upon initial glance. We invite you to the SZ Gallery to see this delightful piece first-hand.

Artist’s Note:

My focus as an artist is to deepen my studio practice and fully engage in creating work that embodies the spirit of unity or HanSan, Korean for "One Mountain." HanSan is the holistic notion that the whole is more than the sum of its parts. A mountain is more than simply soil, plants and rocks just as we people are stronger when unified and rooted together.

My goal is to create visual representations of this concept of HanSan or Togetherness that spur viewers to ponder the beautiful yet complexway that different parts can come together to unify and elevate us beyond the self.
