ViV Crossing: Rêve Development

Rêve is the French word for ‘dream’, and we dream of exciting opportunities to enhance our local community through creative and impactful property development. ViV Crossing, at the intersection of Rainier Ave S and MLK Jr Way in Seattle, is well on its way to bringing one of such dreams into reality.

This Transit Oriented Development (TOD), 8-story building is designed to respond to its angular site, serving as the ‘Flat Iron’ of the Mt Baker neighborhood. In addition to the 172 residential rental units (SEDUs, Studios & One-Bedrooms), ViV Crossing features a spectacular rooftop amenity with indoor and outdoor areas to gather and enjoy the sweeping views from downtown Seattle to the North to Mt Rainier towards the South. This new development will activate the ground level with 3,000 sf for Retail /Restaurant use, along with very cool Live/Work Lofts.

Along with our fabulous team of collaborators, including Encore Architects and Graham Construction, we look forward to seeing this vision come to life!

Art with Heart Brand Refreshment - [Interview with Heidi Durham.]

Since opening almost two years ago, SZ has donated proceeds of our art sales to Art with Heart, a non-profit organization in Seattle that uses creativity and art to support the emotional well-being of children affected by trauma and hardship. During the Art with Heart Founder's Celebration last February, Steffanie Lorig, the Founder of Art with Heart, handed over the reins to Heidi Durham to lead their growing team -- and now Art with Heart is going through a brand refreshment!

After over twenty years of helping children overcome trauma through creative expression, Art with Heart is redesigning the brand with a new visual look and online platform. This brand redesign represents the evolution that comes with new technology and the desire to impact an evolving, global audience. To aid to even more children, they will be providing training models and educational tools on their website based on the curricula they have personally developed over the years. Through a new website design and online resources, their goal is to reach practitioners who work with children all over the world.

I had the opportunity to chat with Heidi Durham, CEO of Art with Heart, and ask questions about the brand redesign, set to launch in late December. Read on for more details about Art with Heart's identity as they evolve and grow.

A major aspect of the SZ approach is to curate a team of consultants that meets the needs of each and every client. We bring together a team of multidisciplinary experts, finding the best fit for each individual project. By working with a consortium of creatives, we have more agility and fluidity to achieve project goals and meet our clients’ unique needs.

When the SZ team collaborated with Mt. Baker Station Associates for the brand-new urban housing hub Stazione25, we brought in Laurent Bourscheidt of L+B Design to provide creative direction for the Stazione25 brand identity. Laurent developed the aesthetics and the details of the brand in conjunction with Mt. Baker Station Associates, Morgan Design Group, the architect of record, and Bristal Design Group, the interior designers. Each consultant brought their expertise to the brainstorming table, providing a multidisciplinary approach to developing the brand guidelines.
