First Friday Art & Wine: Lucia Neagu - Self-Realized.

The next artist in line to be featured at the Suzanne Zahr Gallery through the months of October and November is local painter Lucia Neagu (Nay-a-Goo). Ms. Neagu, a Mercer Islander, makes her residence in one of the condos behind New Seasons, which she states, “is convenient for a person my age.” However, the one problem with that statement is the 82 years-young artist hailing from Romania acts more like a 22-year-old as she bursts up her stairs with verve and vigor, making me think twice about my own health.

First Friday Art & Wine: TENACIOUS [Curated by Deborah Kapoor]

The latest art premiere at SZ Gallery is TENACIOUS, a group show curated by Deborah Kapoor, showcasing 19 different contemporary women artists featuring interpretations of perseverance related to the feminine. Works encompass a range of materiality including painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, glass, fiber, cut paper, drawing, collage, embroidery, mixed media, bronze casting, and video installation.

The first artists’ reception on August 3rd from 5 – 8 pm will give viewers a chance to interact with the exhibit, the curator, and the artists in attendance.

First Friday Art & Wine: Erin Milan [VANITAS]

For the months of June and July, we will be featuring Erin Milan's art exhibit, "VANITAS." Her pieces will be available for purchase at the gallery until July 31st. Celebrate the opening reception for Erin's exhibit on Friday, June 1st, from 5 - 8 pm at SZ Gallery. We'll have complimentary refreshments and seasonal bites to share! (Please note: the pieces contain female nudity.)

SZ: Cotton (two-year) Anniversary Party - [Thank You & Event Photos]

On April 6th, we celebrated our Cotton (two-year) Anniversary Party, and it was a blast! Thank you to everyone who joined us that evening. Our community means everything to us, and it was so wonderful to see many familiar and new faces.

With balloon animals everywhere, cotton candy in hand, and funny photo booth props, the party gave us time as a team to relax and enjoy time with our friends, family, and community. And, we clinked glasses of pink champagne all evening -- two years and three new artists at the gallery is a lot to celebrate! Special thanks to our April/May artists at SZ Gallery -- Laura Castellanos, Juan Carlos Castellanos, and Robert Wood -- who joined us for small bites and bubbly. Their pieces premiered during our Anniversary Party, and you can see them at the gallery during our next First Friday Art & Wine Reception on May 4th from 5 - 8 pm. Their work is available for purchase and will be on display until May 31st!
